State supplies 5.69 lakh metric tonne foodgrain to 5.76 crore beneficiaries

Bhopal: To ensure that no one sleep hungry during lockdown due to Corona crisis in Madhya Pradesh, the government on Tuesday claimed that it has done the important work of providing free ration to the poor.

According to office source, till date, 5 lakh 692 metric tonnes foodgrain have been distributed to 5,75,92,000 beneficiaries of different categories. One month’s ration (including 4 kg wheat and one kg rice per person) was provided free of cost to 32 lakh people without eligibility slips on the instructions of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Besides, instructions have been given to open fair price shops being operated for public distribution system for 12 hours. Permission has been given to open atta chakki, flour mill in all the districts of the state within a certain period of time.

Gram panchayats also providing food

On the instructions of the Chief Minister, 22,812 gram panchayats of the state provided food to 8.70 lakh workers. Every day 37 to 38 thousand needy families are being fed by gram panchayats in the state.

During this crisis, Anganwadi workers are providing door-to-door “ready-to-eat” supplementary nutritious food to more than 60 lakh beneficiaries. Deendayal Rasoi is distributing two-time meals to millions of needy people in different districts of the state.

Instructions to make available essential commodities

The state government has instructed traders of essential commodities to maintain normal availability of marked items. Masks and hand sanitizers were also included in essential items till 30 June. The system of regular review and monitoring of their availability and prices has been ensured. Complaint of hoarding of these items can be made on the toll free number 181 of CM helpline.

Instructions have been issued not to stop vehicles engaged in transporting essential commodities in the state. The Chief Minister has instructed the large mandis decentralized to buy fruits and vegetables from the farmers to ensure uninterrupted supply of essential commodities to the common man.

Cooked food supplied to lakhs of people

Toll free number 1800233297 was set up to supply free cooked food to the homeless, destitute and people who stayed elsewhere. Based on phone calls on this food relief helpline and no. 181, over 81 lakh 76 thousand needy people were provided cooked food and ration.

State level control room

A state-level control room has been set up at the Smart City Office, Bhopal to fulfil basic needs and quick redressal of problems of the people of the state. This control room works 24x7. In addition to the toll free number 181/104, citizens also sent messages for requirements and problems on WhatsApp number 8989011180 which were ensured prompt redressal. It is monitored daily by a Principal Secretary level officer.
