Bhopal: Governor Lalji Tandon has asked University Grants Commission to extend the sponsored projects by six months. He said that Covid-19 lockdown has affected activities of universities. In such circumstances, to follow the determined time limitations of the utilisation certificate of the sponsored projects is not justified. The commission should extend its time limit of all sponsored projects by six months.

Secretary to Governor Manohar Dubey said that research projects, fellowship, chair and other developmental programmes are being run in various universities of the state from the grant provided by University Grants Commission. Due to Covid-19 situation the last dates for all the programmes cannot be followed, he added.

He said in universities academic and development activities are affected. Thus the Governor has asked the commission to extend the last date of the utilisation certificate for various projects, fellowships and schemes for at least six months. He has also asked UGC to give necessary instruction to all the universities.
