New Delhi: Women India Movement (WIM) vice president Kumkum Ben in a statement has emphasised that, while people are deeply troubled by the Coronavirus pandemic in the country, the arrests of ant-CAA campaign activists and students are beyond reproach. She warned the Delhi police that such a spirit of revenge will not be tolerated.
Ben said that protesting against wrong policies and decisions of the government is the Constitutional rights of the people and no one can take away this right from them. Why the Delhi police does not take any action against Anurag Thakur and Kapil Mishra who are guilty of provoking riots in North East Delhi by their most hateful statements. Doesn't this prove that it is a well-planned conspiracy against the minorities, she questioned.
The WIM vice president said that at present, the whole world is united to fight the COVID-19. Scientists across the world are working day and night to make its vaccine, but in India, politics is being done under the guise of lockdown. The selective arrests of anti-CAA protesters from all over the country have exposed the politics of hate, she added.
Ben said at this time, people are disturbed all over the country, especially migrant workers and students, who are stranded in other states. While police are arresting the protesters and activists and no one can come forward to help them in this situation because the whole country has been stopped from all kinds of activities.
WIM has urged the Central government to take action against poison spewing leaders and drop all charges against students and activists.
Ben also pointed out that the construction work of Ram temple in Ayodhya is going on a very fast pace. Will the government answer that when all the work in the country is completely closed why the work of Ram temple is going on? Does it not seem to be the part of a kind of dirty politics, she wondered?
