World on Wheel to impart digital education to students

Madhya Pradesh government has launched a World on Wheel programme to impart computer education to schoolchildren, particularly in the rural areas of the state.

Madhya Pradesh government has launched a World on Wheel programme to impart computer education to schoolchildren, particularly in the rural areas of the state.

Flagging off the mobile computer lab van here on Tuesday, School Education Minister Kunwar Vijay Shah said the World on Wheel will prove to be significant in the Digital India programme of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He said, to impart digital education and to create awareness the mobile computer lab van will visit each school and create a positive environment for computer education. He hoped that through the World on Wheel students along with the villagers would be made aware of information related to the government schemes.

Director, State Open School Education Board PR Tiwari said the World on Wheel Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India, Hyderabad has made a mobile van available to Madhya Pradesh State Open School through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund.

He said the van prepared at a cost of about Rs one crore, will reach different areas of Madhya Pradesh in the coming four years. It will provide computer education to the students at Higher Secondary and High Schools. As many as 20 computers are kept in the mobile computer lab. Solar panels installed in the van ensure continuous supply of electricity in the lab.

On the special characteristics of the van, Tiwari said, it has video conferencing facility that would connect students directly to the experts. The villagers will be given health, agriculture and rural development related information through the mobile van. The van also has the facilities of aadhar card registration and upgradation.

Dr Hanif Mewati of Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India said 40 mobile computer labs have been made available for the spread of computer education all over the country. More than 16 thousand students will be given computer education every year through the mobile van in the state
